About Us

Our Vision

A world where everyone has a decent place to live.

Our Mission

Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.

Wabash County Habitat for Humanity is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization operated on Christian principles that seeks to put God’s love into action by building homes, communities and hope.  Wabash County Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide through constructing, rehabilitating and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing policies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions. Habitat for Humanity was founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, durable place to live in dignity and safety, and that decent shelter in decent communities should be a matter of conscience and action for all.

Who We Are

Wabash County Habitat for Humanity is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, an ecumenical Christian ministry that welcomes all people dedicated to the cause of eliminating poverty and substandard housing worldwide. We build or renovate simple, decent affordable housing for people in need, who purchase the homes through a no profit, 0% interest mortgage. The homeowners' monthly mortgage payments are recycled into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses.

How We Work

Wabash County Habitat for Humanity builds and renovates homes in partnership with volunteers, the community and those in need of safe, affordable and adequate housing. Since 1991, Wabash County Habitat for Humanity has provided affordable homeownership to 15 families.
Habitat has three basic criteria for selection into the Habitat homeownership program:
1. Need for housing
2. Ability to repay the loan
3. Willingness to partner

Non-Proselytizing Policy

Wabash County Habitat for Humanity will not proselytize nor work with entities or individuals who insist on proselytizing as part of their work with Habitat.  This means that Habitat will not offer assistance on the expressed or implied condition that people must adhere to or convert to a particular faith or listen and respond to messaging designed to induce conversion to a particular faith.
